What are greedy boards?

The term ‘’Greedy Boards’’ is used when customers place boards to the sides of the skip in order to increase the capacity and amount of waste disposed of. The pictures below are two instances where our driver has turned up and has had to ask the customer to remove the excess waste to make it a safe level load.

You might think that we as a company are being awkward when our drivers refuse to take your skip because of the greedy boards but this is not a policy that is enforced by us. It is covered under Transport Laws and is upheld by the DVSA. The Transport Law states that a skip must be level when it is transported and this means that it is not your skip hire company that will get in trouble but our driver.

Please don’t get angry with our drivers if they refuse your skip due to it being overloaded, they are just protecting their own driving license. Please think carefully about the size of skip you order for your project or rubbish clearance as it is very easy to keep piling the waste on and end up with an overloaded skip. If you feel like you are in danger of this happening, then please call us before it gets to this point so we can exchange your skip for another one.
